NEWS UPDATE 2/3: NEW TAG TEAM CHAMPS
(2 March 09)
(2 March 09)
-Weeks of frustration, bloodshed and gang warfare paid off last Saturday when The Madalas (Tornado and Skull) became the newly-crowned WWP World Tag Team Champions, defeating the corrupt Weasels at their own game and leaving a black mark on WDP's record, the first true loss for the WDP. In an attempt to fault The Madalas, the returning Joe E Legend made a sudden appearance and tried to give The Weasels and Kilimanjaro the upper hand. Other WDP members, Mikey Whiplash and Murat, followed Legend soon after and all three ended up the victim of a Whisper in the Wind from Angelico, who risked life and limb by diving off the top turnbuckle to the outside. By sacrificing himself, Angelico's incredibly dangerous move gave The Madalas the advantage they were seeking. Tornado executed his Tornado Sault with no interruption, and Skull finished off The Blacksmith with the devastating Skull Bomb. The referee counted to three as Tornado knocked "The Weasel" Mark Beale senseless as he tried unsuccessfully to break the pin. Tornado and Skull, the grizzled veterans who had previously engaged one another in a two-year blood feud which resulted in a brutal Steel Cage match at Carnival City 2008, were now the new WWP World Tag Team Champions. The suicidal efforts of one man, "The Spanish Sensation" Angelico, had pawned three of WDP's men and sealed the deal for The Madalas. Angelico embraced Tornado and Skull in the ring. This was the moment the anti-WDP frontline were waiting for since many months ago. The Madalas celebrated as they went up the ramp. Backstage, The Madalas shook hands with their fellow brethren and even crew members who were just happy to see WDP on the losing end. It was a different kind of setting in The Weasel's office. There was a long moment of silence before Mark Beale put all the blame on The Blacksmith. Beale gathered all the WDP members and left the building, leaving The Blacksmith alone in the office. After Mark Beale had called The Blacksmith his "son" earlier that week, this was certainly something no one expected to see. With the tension within WDP building up to a climax, what will we see happen in the next few weeks as the WDP battles to reclaim its formerly dominant place in WWP? Chairman Mike Msizi was seen celebrating with The Madalas but gave what could be considered bad news to Tornado and Skull: that, due to the contractual obligations and rules of the championships within WWP, The Weasels have the right to demand a rematch for the gold. Tornado and Skull didn't seem to mind this news and said that The Weasels will get their butts kicked anyway, and that they will keep teaching The Weasels a lesson they won't forget. Kilimanjaro, sitting with the WDP at an upmarket restaurant, was in his usual state of anger and, despite being happy about his win over Skull on Friday at Rumble Revolution, said he is not done with them, especially after Saturday's loss, and warned that WDP will come back to get the gold "very soon". He also added that next time he will "kill off The Madalas just like he did to Kwaito Kid" before shoving his plate of food into a waiter's face.
-The Madalas admitted that they were surprised when WWP World Heavyweight Champion Joe E Legend showed up in the match since he had claimed he would "take the title and run back home to Europe". Legend claimed on Saturday night that he had in fact flown up and remained stationed in Germany for a few weeks spreading the word of WDP in an attempt to recruit new members, but upon Mr Beale's request returned to South Africa to support The Weasels in their WWP World Tag Team Titles defence. "We might not have those World Tag Team belts but let me tell you something, friends and foes. It doesn't matter. The WWP World Heavyweight Title is still around my waist. The WDP is growing by the minute. Every tick of the clock that goes by there's someone waking up to the realisation that the only real purpose in life is to get where they want to be. And to do that you've got to join the winning team. The WDP is STILL the winning team, whether you like it or not. The WDP has proven that. Tornado, Skull, Ananzi, PJ Black, Angelico - pledge your allegiance to Mark Beale. The battle is over. We are the real winners. Heroes come and go but legends.....legends live forever."
-In their third bout this season, PJ Black lost to Mikey Whiplash once again, this time getting counted down by the referee's ten-count as both PJ and Whiplash toppled following a double clothesline. PJ Black got himself up before the count but the referee's back was turned to him and he failed to notice PJ's recovery. After Whiplash was declared the victor, PJ got on the microphone and dared Whiplash to one more match. Whiplash agreed, but with one stipulation: Should he win the final one over "The Poster Boy", he wants one night alone with PJ Black's valet Laralicious. PJ Black pondered the consequences with LL and both - almost overconfidently - agreed to go through with "The Beautiful Freak's" demand. WWP officials have decided to schedule this highly important bout for 2 weeks' time in the main event spot. Will PJ Black's decision to put LL on the line come back to haunt him, or will PJ Black get his long-awaited win over Mikey Whiplash? Several months of mental and physical torture for PJ Black will culminate in this fourth and final deciding contest. Who will grab the victory?
-Bheki the Taxidriver caught "The Man of Steel" Jason Steele off guard last Saturday with a quick, well-leveraged rollup for the win. Steele had sent a challenge to Bheki two weeks ago for a rematch after losing to him a couple weeks prior. Bheki was said to be "pissed off", as Steele had slammed the table he and The Dealmaker were playing cards on, before confidently accepting. During the match Steele dominated for the most part and even managed to hit his finishing Perfect Bomb but, for the second time around, Bheki kicked out of it. Jason Steele is now pushed down the ladder due to these losses and needs to recover to improve his contendership position in the openweight division. These wins for Bheki have secured his place in WWP for the meantime. Will Bheki be able to keep it up, or will the pressure be too much for "The Truly Remarkable Symbol of Greatness"? Jason Steele remains unconvinced of Bheki's ability and, in what may have been a moment of post-frustration, called him a "wash-up" while seated on the locker room bench. Will Jason Steele recover from these losses, and who will be his next opponent?
-In an earlier unrelated event, Bheki was confronted in the locker room by former tag team partner Steve Eden. After their break-up some time ago Eden still has major heat on Bheki. With both men aligned to Madalas & Friends, will they be able to co-exist and stay on the same page?
-Results from Rumble Revolution, which took place Friday 27 February:
Jason Steele defeated Zizou Middoux
Ananzi defeated Terri Middoux
Kilimanjaro defeated Skull
Bullet Proof won the Battle Royale to win a WWP Thunderstrike contract and 1.5m trophy (eliminated Xterminator)
Full in-depth report coming soon.
-Zizou Middoux made a brief statement at the Rumble Revolution show last Friday that has seemingly irked his father Terri Middoux. Before his bout with Jason Steele Zizou got on the microphone and said that he wants to make a name for himself without the help of his dad. As the result of Zizou Middoux losing twice in a row in the space of one week, Terri has demanded that Zizou come back under his wing and said Zizou does in fact need his help. He told Zizou to stay away from "that South African cretin" Ananzi and Jason Steele and return to training with his "papa". Ananzi, who defeated Terri Middoux on Friday in their superfight rematch, called Terri Middoux overprotective and once again extended his welcome to Zizou to come train at his Punishment Wrestling Academy. Ananzi added, in Afrikaans (translated here to English), "Zizou has a lot of potential but is still a young kid who needs real guidance. The French Polony Terri Middoux doesn't know when to let go. On Friday night I showed Terri who the better man is. Two Bad Habits and he was down for the count. Zizou, brother, you make that decision. To The Great One it's clear as crystal. Either come train with the best or stick with The French Muffler." Zizou was reached on Sunday but refused to disclose any information about what he intends to do.
-On Friday WDP bodyguard Kilimanjaro capitalised on Skull's missed Skull Bomb and quickly pinned him for the win. Afterwards, Skull promised Kilimanjaro that their next match would be full-on hardcore with absolutely no rules, adding that he would make sure that Kilimanjaro won't be left standing. Later on in the backstage area of the venue, Skull was attending to his wounds when Kilimanjaro spat in his face, which immediately prompted another intense fist fight between the two mammoths. Although Skull said on Saturday night that he finally feels that revenge has been exacted on WDP after winning the WWP World Tag Team Titles with Tornado, he is not finished with Kilimanjaro and "the hatred goes beyond the ring".
-After winning the Royal Rumble match on Friday, Bullet Proof is now the newest competitor to have a WWP Thunderstrike contract. Bullet Proof was emotional after the match and said that all his hard work training under Ananzi's guidance at the Punishment Wrestling Academy paid off. He has the opportunity to make a big impact in front of millions of people on a national stage and plans to blow everyone away in his pending debut. Xterminator was one of the final two participants in the Rumble and walked out in disgust as Bullet Proof celebrated in the ring. Throwing his gear to the ground, Xterminator expressed that he was the one that should've been holding up that contract and that trophy, not "some inexperienced *expletive*". Big Joe Dozer, who we've seen recently in Kilimanjaro's corner, was spotted scowling at Bullet Proof in the parking lot and had to be restrained. Bullet Proof now has the envy of many competitors who have risked it all to get such a chance, as well as the added pressure of moving up the ranks in WWP Thunderstrike. Will he be able to achieve success, and how far will "The Wilhelmse Brawler" go?
