NEWS UPDATE 20 JAN: BLACKOUT
(20 Jan 09)
(20 Jan 09)
-It was truly a "BlackOut" for PJ Black when he got
counted out in a rematch against Murat this past Saturday. Mikey
Whiplash, who was ringside once again just as he was in PJ Black's
first match with Murat six weeks ago, smartly played a key role in
getting PJ Black outside the ring. Murat was in the right place for PJ
Black to hit his finishing Senton Bomb and gain the long-awaited
victorious retribution, but at the same time Whiplash, who was a huge
annoyance to Black the whole match, was positioned on the outside in a
seemingly dazed state. PJ was forced to choose. Unfortunately, it ended
up being the wrong choice. PJ Black went reeling off the top turnbuckle
with a crossbody dive onto Whiplash, not only hurting Whiplash but
himself in the process. The referee, supposedly paid off by WDP, began
the ten-count and sped through it as if his life depended on getting PJ
Black to lose somehow. PJ Black, still injured from the impact, could
not bring himself to his feet, and Laralicious, a new valet in PJ's
corner, was forced to assist him backstage. No words were ushered from
PJ Black afterward. Murat is still undefeated, and WDP is ostensibly
(and quite literally) impenetrable.
-Former WWP World Cruiserweight Champion The Playa, who was among three WWP superstars missing in action the past several weeks, suddenly returned last week to take on "The French Monster" Terri Middoux, whose opponent was unknown prior to Saturday. Playa's return was a strong one despite him losing to the Ooh La La Slam. There still remain many question marks as to what exactly caused his absence. The Playa was contacted via cellphone a day after the show but hung up when our interviewer inquired.
-Terri Middoux affirmed post-match that he was not worried at all about who the opponent would turn out to be and that he won anyway, which is the only thing that counts in his mind. Middoux said he is aiming straight for the top and wants the prized WWP World Heavyweight Title some day, at the same time gesturing toward his waist. He also left a message for the fans: "You South Africans - you see me every week. Let me tell you people something. You can love me or hate me, but you all know I am simply the best. I care less about how you want me to wrestle or what you think of me. I get the job done, and if you don't like that you can cassez vous."
-Akilah retained her WWP World Ladies Title in a grudge match against Scorn. In what was possibly the toughest match Akilah has had since her championship win, Scorn bent her several times during the match in a move reminiscent of the brutal attack at the Carnival City Live extravaganza in 2008. Akilah made a comeback from the utter domination, however, and hit the deadly Overhead Pumphandle Face Slam followed by two Akilah KOs, which put Scorn down indefinitely. A groggy Scorn was infuriated after the match and called the win "a fluke". She immediately demanded that WWP officials sanction a rematch. Officials said they can't promise anything and that the choice is up to Akilah since she now holds a win over Scorn. Will Scorn get granted a rematch, or will other challengers step up to the plate? Will Akilah be able to hold onto her title for much longer?
-The Openweight division fired up Saturday when "The Pride of DRC" Du Congo faced the enigmatic Lizzard. The advantage went both ways but Du Congo reversed a Tilt-A-Whirl attempt by Lizzard into an unorthodox fall that gave him the victory. Lizzard's performance the past few weeks has allegedly caught the eye of Mikey Whiplash, who has been heard saying he wants to teach Lizzard a lesson he won't forget. What is Whiplash planning to do to Lizzard, and what did Lizzard do to draw the ire of Whiplash besides being the very type of wrestler WDP is trying to oust? Du Congo was said to be highly elated with the win and his recent string of victories, and cited the reason for his success that he is in the best shape of his entire career. Will Du Congo be able to keep up his win streak?
-In the opener of last Saturday's show, the overwhelmingly one-sided betting odds were on the mark when Devon Shooter defeated Karwats, who has yet to win a match in WWP. Karwats was said to be very disappointed and that he might not return to the ring after this loss, before returning to his mother who was waiting for him in the parking lot. Devon Shooter continues his rise to stardom - can he keep it up?
-In backstage news, just after Joe E Legend explained the real purpose of WDP to Mikey Whiplash and Murat in the locker room, the cameras were turned off when Steve Eden ardently barged in to issue a challenge to Legend, uttering curse words which could not be aired and cannot be repeated here. Eden lost several weeks ago to Legend in a tremendously competitive bout which saw Legend finish off Eden with the Hospital Job. Eden stated that he won't get clumsy this time and that he's more than prepared for a win, adding that since Legend dropped him on his head with a brainbuster suplex in their last match, he will exact the same and drop Legend on his head with the SA Dunk. As Eden seemed on the verge of striking the first blow onto Legend, Whiplash and Murat were forced to separate Eden and disband him from the locker room. Legend is the current and new holder of the WWP World Heavyweight Title, which means the championship could be on the line in their rematch. The clock is ticking until this Saturday...
-The Madalas, Skull and Tornado, were seen entering the WDP office before having a heated conversation with The Weasels. Although the door was shut closed, our sources overheard Skull divulging that they will "get their arses kicked" this coming Saturday.
