The WWP Cruiserweight World Championship was first formed on November 1, 2007 when the third season of WWP Thunderstrike debuted. The appeals from a scorching cruiserweight division forced WWP management to create this much-heralded title.
PJ Black, the hottest South African wrestler at the moment and arguably one of the best up-and-comers in professional wrestling, became the first-ever WWP Cruiserweight World Champion by defeating The Playa in a high-impact mat classic. He carried the belt for a few more weeks and lost it to The Lizard in a huge upset when his arrogance got the better of him. Black then departed the cruiserweight division for the heavyweight division in a bid to prove his ring greatness. The Lizard lost the belt a week later to the better man (on that night), The Playa. Playa and Lizard have since engaged in a feud that has spanned more than a month, the two having fought one another in various types of matches, including the feared TLC match. The Playa has defeated Lizard several times now, but Lizard has stated that he will keep coming back for more.
